Book about kazakh writer and poet Shakarim was translated into chinese

Chinese people now have the opportunity to learn about the great Kazakh writer and poet Shakarim Kudaiberdiuly. Linguist of the Xi’an International Studies University, Li Xichang translated the book titled “Shakarim” into the language spoken by over a billion people. Li Xichang used to work in Astana at the Confucius Institute at the Gumilyov Eurasian National University.   

LI XICHANG, LECTURER, XI’AN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES UNIVERSITY:

- In the works of the two philosophers of the Kazakh and Chinese people, we can see similar attitude to life, concerns about Motherland and patriotism. That’s why those who admire Confucius’ philosophy will appreciate the book about Shakarim.  

President of the Xi’an International Studies University, Wang Junzhe said that after reading “Shakarim” he knows more about the life of Kazakhs. “It made me want to mount a horse and ride across the vast steppe of Kazakhstan”, the University President says. Local students were also happy to learn about the translation of the book.

- My name is Saule. I study the Kazakh language and literature here. This book shows that cultural cooperation between the two countries is developing. It demonstrates the personality, culture and life of the Kazakh people, that’s why this book is valuable. 

The book was translated into Chinese as part of the Modernization of Public Consciousness program. The author of the original book, Yerlan Sydykov, says that it will help promote the Kazakh culture in the world.

- It is wonderful that research about the Kazakh writer’s life and creative work is translated into such developed languages as Chinese. It allows learning more about specific aspects, values, organization and routine of the Kazakh people.   

The book “Shakarim” is already translated into Russian, Turkish and English.
