A History of God by religious scholar, philosopher and publicist Karen Armstrong has been translated into Kazakh. It talks about the history of the three major monotheistic traditions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, along with Buddhism and Hinduism. The evolution of the idea of God is traced from its ancient roots up to the present day. The bestseller has been translated into more than 30 different languages.

DOSAI KENZHETAYEV, DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY AND THEOLOGY:

 - Philosophers who study Judaism, Christianity and Islam often give general concepts about God. The book is based on comparative research. The author explains about Sufi, mystics and the relationship between religions as well as enlightenment. Who were the enlighteners in Islam? The author also explains the worldviews of religious representatives, their perceptions of the public opinions and challenges.

The book is one of the first results of the project titled “New Humanitarian Education. The 100 New Textbooks in Kazakh.” Religious studies scholars, imams and theologians highly appreciated the work. The book will be included in the curriculum of Kazakhstan’s higher educational institutions.

KARLYGASH ZHUMADIL, STUDENT:

- The book was published in the 1990s. This is a world-famous book. Today, the new technologies are changing the world. Therefore, we are interested in the books published recently. It will be useful if the most recent books on religious studies are translated. This would help us to become good specialists and to study international terminologies.

As part of the "New Humanitarian Education" project, 18 textbooks translated into Kazakh have already been published. By the end of the year, 30 more books will be translated and published, which will help young people to deepen their knowledge in all kinds of areas.

GULZHIKHAN NURYSHEVA, DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY:

- We have translated ‘A Brief History of Philosophy: From Socrates to Derrida’ by Derek Johnston into Kazakh. We believe that this book will help the society develop the world view and also contribute to the development of philosophical thought. We are translating the third and fourth volumes of Anthony Kenny. This work is a continuation of the previous one. We can say that our experience in the translation business will improve.

If there is demand, the number of textbooks translated into Kazakh can be increased, experts say. At the stage of selecting the books to translate, the figure reached 800 books.
