21.09.2018

Books of Kazakh publishing houses have been highly appreciated at the international book fair in Moscow. Most of the books were sold out in the early days of the book fair. ‘My Kazakhstan’ series was the first to be sold out. The book includes literature about nature, culture and history of the country. The novel titled ‘Amina Turan in the Country of Nomads’ gained special interest among readers. This is the first children's book of the fantasy genre published in Kazakh. The Moscow Book Fair is the largest and oldest event in Russia and Eastern Europe. The exhibition traditionally starts in September to mark the opening of the book season. This year’s main topic is children's literature. 300 publishers from 25 countries have been presented at the book fair.

ALMIRA SUZHIKOVA, DEPUTY CHIEF EDITOR, PUBLISHING HOUSE:

- This year we have a new book by Zaure Turekhanova. We published the children's book of the fantasy genre in Kazakhstan for the first time. She was awarded the ‘Altyn kalam’ literary prize. She is a winner of the ‘Altyn Tobylgy’ prize of the First President of Kazakhstan. We are selling her book. I think we will see the result soon.

ZHENIS KAZANGAPOV, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, PUBLISHING HOUSE:

- We brought books that are popular both in Russia and Kazakhstan. We also brought new books. We want the books to be of good quality not only inside, but also we want them to look good outside. Therefore, the book covers attract attention. They can be too bright, but they have our oriental colour.
