An anthology of modern Kazakh literature translated into English was presented in a British library.

Translation and publication of collections were carried out by Cambridge University Press. Experienced translators and literary editors from England took an active part in the work.

“I think this is an unusual project because Kazakhstan is a quite new nation,” said Chief Executive of Cambridge University Press, Peter Phillips.

Collections of Kazakh poetry will be delivered to more than 8,000 libraries, universities and science centers in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and many other English-speaking countries.

“The most important goal is to reach a wide audience by publishing the works of our authors. This way we can present our culture, lifestyle, and tradition. The best international experts worked on the publication. In addition, we have formed our own pool of translators,” said Secretary of ‘Ruhani Zhangyru’ National Commission, Aida Balayeva.

The anthology in English, Russian and Arabic languages are planned to be presented to the public by the end of the year.

The translation of the samples collection of modern Kazakh literature into six UN languages is being implemented as part of the Modern Kazakh Culture in the Global World project. This is an important part of the Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity program.

The main goal is to present the achievements of modern Kazakhstan in literature, musical and visual arts, choreography, cinema and theater to the world.
