Copies of letters between Ottoman sultans and Kazakh Khans were made available to Kazakh scientists. Turkey’s YERTAD Association of History and Culture transferred the copies of the letters to Kazakhstan’s Central State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents.

40 letters date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The letters state about the visit of Kazakh ambassadors to the Ottoman Empire as well as the transport of valuable documents and gifts.

The documents are planned to be translated into Kazakh and Russian languages.

“Currently, our fund has nearly 70,000 rare books and manuscripts related to the Turkic world. We are planning to organize many joint events with Kazakhstan,” said Director of Project Department of YERTAD Turkish Association, Assel Lakhayeva.

In 2020, Kazakhstan’s Central State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents and YERTAD Association plans to organize exhibitions on the history of Kazakh ancient cities and Nauryz holiday in several provinces in Turkey.
