"Dick Sand, A Captain at Fifteen". Jules Verne.

Novel. Astana: translation, 2011 – p. 408. In this book, which full of amazing events, is told about incidents, which had happened with whaling ship “Pilgrim”. Ship’s crew (5 sailors and captain) were killed in the result of fight with whale. A sailor boy, who was fifteen years old, took on ship handling. Using this story, full of dangers and threats, the author demonstrated that only the boldest and decisive man can assume responsibility during difficult times. Idea of the novel is conformable with Kazakh wisdom: “worthy man strives for power since fifteen years old”. The author, who declared fifteen years as age of man complete establishment, appeals readers not to be afraid of difficulties and obstacles on way of living and to assume a responsibility as early as possible.
